Overview
The Chapel of the Apparitions is a central landmark at the Sanctuary of Fátima, located on the very spot where the Virgin Mary is said to have appeared to three shepherd children—Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta—in 1917. This place holds deep spiritual significance for millions of pilgrims who visit each year.
The chapel features a modern, minimalist design with a white exterior that blends into the natural surroundings. Inside, the altar is simple but meaningful, offering a place for prayer and reflection. A statue of Our Lady of Fátima stands at the altar, symbolizing the Virgin’s presence during the apparitions. The site is also where many pilgrims light candles, continuing the tradition of devotion.
Adjacent to the chapel, the Candlelight Procession is held every evening. Pilgrims walk in a solemn, candle-lit procession around the sanctuary, reflecting on the apparitions and praying for peace. The chapel remains a serene and sacred space, welcoming both religious and secular visitors who come to experience its historical, spiritual, and cultural importance.
