Overview
The Monument to the Discoveries (Padrão dos Descobrimentos) is a striking landmark located along the Tagus River in Lisbon’s Belém district. Erected in 1960 to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the death of Prince Henry the Navigator, the monument celebrates Portugal’s Age of Exploration.
